We are looking for a trainee to provide support to the Market Risk team. The selected candidate will report to the members of the Market Risk team and to the Head of Risk Management.

 

The ideal candidate will follow up on day-to-day activities, and support the implementation of a new risk engine that should increase the analytical capabilities of the relevant ESM departments (Risk Management, Economics and Market Analysis, Investment and Treasury, and ALM) and also follow up on some day-to-day activities.

 

The European Stability Mechanism (“ESM”) is the crisis resolution mechanism for euro area countries. It provides financial assistance to euro area countries experiencing financing problems, and issues debt instruments to fund this financial support.

 

The ESM is a unique place to work with around 190 individuals committed to making a difference to the future of the euro area. It recruits talented professionals of all nationalities from both the private and public sector.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

To provide value-added assistance to market risk, systems and reporting officers, with a particular focus on the following tools and reporting tasks:

  • Execute and maintain the regular risk reporting activity (administration, production, analysis, assessment, documentation and reporting);
  • Execute quality checks on the input data used for risk monitoring and reporting;
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the quality execution of monitoring and reporting activities;
  • Support the implementation of the risk-engine and new reporting tools and solutions;
  • Assist Risk Management department in other ad-hoc assignments.

 

KEY BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

  • University educated, ideally to Master’s level or working towards completion of Master’s degree
  • A formal training in market risk analysis and experience with risk management software is considered an asset
  • A first professional experience at a significant public body, bank or other financial institution is a plus, in particular in the field of market risk & risk management
  • A good mastery of Excel, VBA, Tableau and Bloomberg is appreciated
  • Fluent (spoken and written) English
